The crazy idea started when two of our parents had to cancel their plans to fly from North Wales to Western Australia and back again to visit their three 20 month old grand daughters (yes – triplets). Ill health caused the cancellation, and from this our plan started to form. It became obvious that if they were to see each other, possibly for quite some time, then it would be up to us to do the reverse trip.

Turkey had never been at the top of my list of 'must go to destinations'. It always conjured up images of drunken Australians (and New Zealanders) making a pilgrimage to Gallipoli under the guise of history but more realistically with the ambition of getting liquored up, while assuming the whole country is their garbage bin and yelling Oi, oi, oi like a child with Tourrette's.
