Submission Guidelines for Inside Travel

Print E-mail
Thank you for your interest in submitting a story to Inside Travel. The following outlines our submission guidelines for all content.

The Publication

Inside Travel is Australia’s first free travel publication devoted to Family, Adventure, Sport and Leisure travel. Distributed free to Australian consumers via a network of coffeehouses and travel-related businesses throughout the country, Inside Travel focuses on targeted, niche markets, including leisure travellers, sports enthusiasts, family travellers and adventurers.

The Content

Inside Travel focuses on 4 key areas. Submitted articles should generally fit within one of these areas:

  • Leisure Travel (Luxury spas, resorts, wineries, bed & breakfasts, daytrips, etc)
  • Sport Travel (Golf, fishing, rugby/footy tours, biking, kayaking, hiking, etc)
  • Adventure Travel (Exotic journeys, lost cities, eco travel, safari tours, treks, etc)
  • Family Travel (family/children/pet-friendly accommodation and activities.)

Submitting a Story

All stories are welcome at Inside Travel! As our goal is to create a community of Australian travellers from all walks of life, we heartily encourage submissions from anyone and everyone.

Submitting a story is easy: simply follow the guidelines below, and you will be on your way to getting your article published.

  1. Read recent issues of the magazine to become familiar with the content and writing style.
  2. Read the guidelines and document format details (below)
  3. Upload your story and images to the editorial Dropbox (see below).

Then what happens?

  1. Assuming all the guidelines are met, your article will be read by our editorial team, and it will appear on the website with a few days.
  2. Once published on the website, your article will then be considered for inclusion (in whole or in part) in "The Lounge" of the following print issue.
  3. If your article is chosen for print, the Group Editor will contact you via email.
  4. If your submission is of an extremely high quality, it will be considered for a Feature Article spot, and/or you may be contacted for future "on assignment" work. But as space is limited in the magazine, this is rare.

All published articles will be in the running for the "Best of the Year" competition, which is voted on by Inside Travel readers.

Note: by submitting content to Inside Travel, you agree to allow us to publish the piece in both the print magazine and on the website. You also acknowledge that the work is your own, and that you have the rights to release it to Inside Travel for publication.

Compensation

Contributors are entitled to a byline, and clippings/copies of the published material. Feature Articles or "on assignment" stories can be negotiated at a nominal rate.
